At which point I should say that while the increase in apparent detail is remarkable, the application of HDR to the picture has an even bigger impact. Just scrolling through images for this article, I was reminded of how many incredible characters populated the Game of Thrones show throughout the years. The idea of using people from different aspects of the production for each commentary is a masterstroke, ensuring that each one feels fresh and gives another perspective on the production and story. This achievement is all the more impressive once you realize a lot of this is actually upscaled 2160p, because the first two seasons were recorded in full HD, not UHD. It also appears that all of the “hidden Dragon Eggs” content is still included, it’s just not hidden anymore (deleted scenes and the like).

The wide dynamics of the Dolby Atmos track virtually puts you in the middle of everything happening onscreen and changes with each subsequent moment never sounding fake, unpolished or generic.Packed with over 15 hours of special features spanning all 8 seasons and a digital copy of every episode, this collectable set also makes a perfect holiday gift!

So I feel reasonably well qualified to say that the step up in picture quality delivered by this 4K Blu-ray release goes way further than I’d imagined possible. The perfect score of 5 up above is a compilation average of how I ranked all eight seasons of Game of Thrones in my previous 4K/Blu-ray reviews. AQUAMAN AND THE LOST KINGDOM The DC Super Hero’s Action-Packed Adventure Debuts on 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD on March 12th!dba Freestar (“Freestar”) for the purposes of placing certain advertising on the site, and Freestar will collect and use certain data for advertising purposes. The DTS mixes were also a bit more biased to the forward portions of the soundstage, but the Atmos sounds smoother and more balanced.

It’s simply because this one whopping big box set that houses a total of 33 Discs (23 BD-100s, 7 BD-66s, 3 BD-50s). Despite it all though nothing ever gets lost in the translation of the mix here including the dialogue thanks to the discreteness of it all. For this Ultra HD release, the resulting image has also graded for high dynamic range (both HDR10 and Dolby Vision are included). With respect to PC or console-embedded players, they’ll do OK, but they lack the dedicated processing power to show just how nuanced the amazing job the team did on this Blu-ray collection is. Game of Thrones: Reunion Special: A two-part reunion show shot live in Belfast with the cast, both past and present, hosted by Conan O'Brien and available exclusively on these complete series collections. It’s interesting looking back at it now, too, to remember afresh just how groundbreaking it was in 2011 in terms of how far it was prepared to go to ensure that seriously unpleasant stuff happens to the most pleasant people. All eight seasons of the show have been remastered for proper Dolby Atmos, which of course sounds amazing if you have a good sound system or high quality headphones. Beyond Dolby Vision the 4K Ultra HD Discs also feature Dolby Atmos surround tracks plus the inclusion of over 15 hours of bonus features originally released on the 2019 Game of Thrones: The Complete Series and The Complete Collection (Limited Collector’s Edition) Blu-ray sets.

So here’s what this 33-disc set looks like with its protective sheath of plastic still protecting its contents.Home Entertainment has a big slate, with 4K upgrades not just for both James McTeigue's V for Vendetta, but also for the complete series of HBO's Game of Thrones. Pro-Res and ARRIRAW format for the remainder of the series, using Arri Alexa Mini, XT, and SXT Plus cameras with Cooke S4 and Angenieux Optimo Lenses (note that some location photography was also done with Red Epic-M Dragon cameras in 6K Redcode RAW).
