Description

Many women get frustrated with the world and then go into depression or have anxiety about trying to get it all done, even through their illness. This book taught me so much more about my battle with my chronic illnesses and that god put me through this for a reason. I am not sure I would place this is my k-12 Christian school library unless it came to my attention that we had a secondary female student who suffered from a chronic illness. It is as if she is walking with her readers through their journeys with chronic illnesses or caring for those with chronic illnesses.

I began reading “Chronic Love” by Brooke Bartz because I have suffered over the past 4 years with Chronic illness/disability which has made me want to give up and has tested my faith many times. God is the ultimate healer and though the Chronic Illness may never go away, he can lead us to prayer for dealing with the pain and one day he will heal us in glory. At the end of each chapter are detail and main idea questions about the chapter’s contents as well as a prayer.

For the past seven and a half years, since age 24, I have been battling chronic illness, and one diagnosis follows another in a domino effect as my body continues to fail me. However, something that we often overlook is that if we belong to the Lord, we already have the cure! We are by nature children of wrath and so every moment not being under His wrath, and having everything He permits work out to our good and His glory is grace and mercy, lavished. In Luke 22:42 we see the most stunning reality of the mystery of suffering as our Lord Himself pleads to the Father through agony and great drops of blood, "Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done.

Our Mission It is our intention to use this space as a platform to amplify the voices of humans navigating the fallout of chronic illness; to lend language to the complexities of our lives so that we can begin to share the unshareable; and to offer an honest glimpse into lives lived with and beyond illness. Ever since I have become Mental Health Advocate and a try to be the voice for the silent and to END THE STIGMA. The Father's answer is in Isaiah 53: 10, "it was the will of the LORD to crush him; he has put him to grief.

However, a God who walks with me, sometimes carries me through my chronic conditions, for Him I can only express deep gratitude and love. It would be a very sharp and trying experience to me to think that I have an affliction which God never sent me, that the bitter cup was never filled by his hand, that my trials were never measured out by him, nor sent to me by his arrangement of their weight and quantity.Yet disease was not always her close companion; in the years before her diagnosis, she grew up playing sports and earned a full scholarship to play volleyball at the University of Mary Hardin–Baylor.
