All ages are welcome at our shows and age ranges can only be a rough guide, but please bear in mind that Charlie Cook’s Favourite Book was not specially designed for under-threes. Our shows for this age group have storylines that can be followed and enjoyed by 3-4-year olds, but may also use slightly more complex ideas, humour, dialogue or song lyrics that older children will get more out of.

In addition to the modern classic, THE GRUFFALO (0 333 71093 2), her most recent collaborations with Axel Scheffler include THE SNAIL AND THE WHALE (0 333 98224 X) and THE GRUFFALO'S CHILD (1 405 02046 6). They will provide a linguistic and artistic interpretation of the show for people who are D/deaf or for whom BSL is their preferred language. The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products. But the publisher thought that would be too complicated, and Axel has done a great job making each book look different. The audience stay in their seats while watching, but you can leave and re-enter the auditorium at any time.

There are eleven different books in this story, and my first idea was to have eleven different illustrators – one for each book-within-a-book!

Based on the original book Charlie Cook Favourite Book – written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler. Julia Donaldson has written some of the world's best-loved children's books, including modern classics The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo's Child, illustrated by Axel Scheffler, which together have sold over 25 million copies worldwide and have been translated into over one hundred languages. Note that there are restrictions on some products, and some products cannot be shipped to international destinations. They have brought many of my books to life on stage, and they do so creatively whilst remaining faithful to the books.

She was the UK Children’s Laureate 2011–13 and has been honoured with a CBE for Services to Literature. Her other books include The Hospital Dog illustrated by Sara Ogilvie, The Christmas Pine illustrated by Victoria Sandøy and the hugely successful What the Ladybird Heard adventures illustrated by Lydia Monks. A show aimed at two-year olds would have some differences – those shows are carefully made to hold their attention for the duration, and not to be unsettling for them. The show features a dragon puppet who roars loudly and quite a big crocodile puppet, but these are both friendly characters. Yoto Says: A dizzying adventure that immerses us in a book inside a book inside a book… all for the love of stories! This play is based on the original book Charlie Cook’s Favourite Book -Written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler.
